Prague Hoops 2026
Every team is welcome to participate in Prague HOOPS 2026!
Only teams that register on time and pay the entry fee can take part in the tournament. If there's a lot of interest, teams will be picked based on when they paid the entry fee.
Below you will see the general division of the MINI and YOUTH age categories. You will also see the rules.

August 29: Payment due date for accommodation
September 2: Last day to cancel a player's participation and receive a refund for part of the cost of accommodation and the PH wristband
September 7: Deadline for publishing the match schedule
September 8: Deadline for publishing the school accommodation schedule
September 11: Start of the PRAGUE HOOPS tournament
September 13: Final day anddeparture regarding exceptions. Subsequently, the four rule sections are divided in the following order:
MINI category
1. BASIC INFORMATION
1.1 Tournament name: Prague Hoops MINI 2026
1.2 Venue: Hostivař (SCUK + surroundings), Prague
1.3 Date: September 11–13, 2026
1.4 Category:
B11: Boys born on January 1, 2016, and younger
B12: Boys born on January 1, 2015, and younger
B13: Boys born on January 1, 2014, and younger
G11: Girls born on January 1, 2016, and younger
G12: Girls born on January 1, 2015, and younger
G13: Girls born on January 1, 2014, and younger
1.5 Team size: Maximum of 15 players per team
2. GAME FORMAT AND TIME
2.1 Each game consists of four quarters of six minutes each (running time).
2.2 The clock is stopped only during timeouts and in the last two minutes of the fourth quarter.
2.3 In the event of a tie, overtime is played for three minutes of running time.
3. PLAYER PARTICIPATION
3.1 Each player may play a maximum of 2 quarters in one game.
4. Gaming equipment
4.1 Ball size: No. 5 for categories U11 and U12, ball size No. 6 for category U13.
4.2 Basket height: 260 cm for categories U11 and U12. Basket height 305 cm for category U13.
4.3 Teams bring their own balls for warm-up. Official match balls are provided by the organizer.
5. REST PERIODS AND BREAKS
5.1 Each team is entitled to the following rest periods:
1 in the first half
1 in the second half
1 in overtime
5.2 Breaks between quarters: 2 minutes
5.3 Half-time break: 5 minutes
6. FOULS AND PENALTIES
6.1 After 4 personal fouls, a player must be substituted.
6.2 Penalty throws are taken after the 5th team foul in a half.
6.3 Technical fouls:
1 technical error: opponents are automatically awarded 3 points, no penalty throw is taken
2 technical fouls (player ejection): opponent receives 5 points
7. CHANGES TO THE RULES OF MINI BASKETBALL
7.1 Throw-in without handing the player over to the referee (U11, U12, U13)
In mini-basketball categories, a new rule applies: if the attacking team commits a foul in its offensive half and the defending team gains possession of the ball for a throw-in at the back of the court, it may take the throw-in without first passing the ball to the referee.
In situations where the ball is held, the procedure remains unchanged and the throw-in is taken in the standard manner.
7.2 In the U11 and U12 categories, a shot outside the inner area counts as 3 points.
8. EVALUATION AND PROCEDURE FROM GROUPS
In the event of a tie in the group, the following criteria will be decisive in the order listed:
8.1 Result of head-to-head match
8.2 Better score from head-to-head matches
8.3 Higher number of points scored in head-to-head matches
8.4 Decided by penalty throws
9. ORGANIZATION OF MATCHES AND DISCIPLINE
9.1 Teams must be ready to play at least 5 minutes before the start of the match.
9.2 Failure to comply with this time limit will result in the automatic award of 5 points to the opponent.
9.3 All players must be able to provide proof of identity with a photograph and date of birth upon request.
10. PROTESTS
10.2 A deposit of CZK 500 (or EUR 20) must be attached to the protest.
10.3 If the protest is rejected, the deposit shall be forfeited in favor of the organizer.
11. LIABILITY
11.1 The organizer is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to property.
11.2 Each team is responsible for its belongings throughout the tournament.
The changing rooms are accessible during the tournament.
Category YOUTH
1. BASIC INFORMATION
1.1 Tournament name: Prague Hoops 2026 - YOUTH
1.2 Date: September 11–13, 2026
1.3 Categories:
B14: Boys born on January 1, 2013, and younger
B16: Boys born on January 1, 2011, and younger
1.4 Team size:
In the U14 category, a maximum of 15 players per team.
In the U16 category, there can be a maximum of 15 players per team, and only 12 players can play in a single match (roster).
2. GAME FORMAT AND TIME
2.1 Each U14 game is played in 4 quarters of 8 minutes (running time). Each U16 game is played in 4 quarters of 10 minutes (running time).
2.2 The clock is stopped only during timeouts and in the last 2 minutes of the 4th quarter.
2.3 In the event of a tie, overtime is played for 3 minutes of pure time.
3. PLAYER PARTICIPATION
3.1 In the U14 category, each player may only play in three quarters, not in the first three quarters of a single game. There are no restrictions in the U16 category.
4. Gaming equipment
4.1 Ball size: No. 6 for the U14 category. Ball size: No. 7 for the U16 category.
4.2 Basket height: 305 cm for both categories.
4.3 Teams bring their own balls for warm-up. Official match balls are provided by the organizer.
